Business Origins
C.I.A. was originally formed in 1993 as purely insurance investigators and debt collectors for that industry, due to the principal's previous background in the N Z Police. An opportunity arose in 1997 to demonstrate to the then National President of the property managers division of the Real Estate Institute of N Z the tracing and debt collecting abilities of their business.
A six month trial took place before they were invited to market their services to the rest of the R.E.I.N.Z. membership. The business has snowballed ever since so that they now offer national coverage.

They have among they client base many branches of the well-known franchises of Barfoot & Thompson Ltd, First National, L J Hookers, Harcourts, Bayleys Property Management, Century 21 Main Realties, Rex Davies Ltd, Harveys Group, Olsen Everson, Ray White, and The Professionals.
When you have location rates of 89.7% and recovery rates from them of 86%, you can see why they are regularly being referred to private landlords as well, by property managers, the Courts and Tenancy Services division of Ministry of Housing..

Licensing
Even though debt collectors are not currently required to be licensed in any way, they carry private investigator licenses issued by the Minsitry of Justice and these are put up for yearly scrutiny through a yearly renewal process.
How to collect tenancy debt
Don't allow bad tenants to get away with unpaid debt. It is a simple process to lodge the debt with C.I.A. They are so confident in their abilities they even offer results only debt collecting. That means C.I.A. will only take their commission from any payment they recover ... if they don't recover anything but locate your tenant they will give you other options to collect the debt via the District Court system.
