To all TINZ members
Important changes on TINZ Next time you login to TINZ we will be asking you to acknowledge a new “user” agreement which has been designed to meet these obligations. We are required to regularly confirm you know your obligations under the CRPC and to this end you could expect to get a bi-annual query from TINZ in this regard. You will also be asked to indicate the reason for doing each search and lodgement. You will be given a tick box with suggested reasons. Most likely you will indicating that you have the prospective tenant’s permission to do the search or lodgement. This will be recorded so the Privacy Commissioner can audit your searches and lodgements. This same reason will print out on the reports you get from TINZ. We will be putting in the facility to record stolen or lost identification. To this end the photoID that you now input will also show in future checks on that person and you will get a warning should that the photoID has been previously declared as lost or stolen. Hey .... don’t forget we still give you a credit for you uploading photos to TINZ via the link at the foot of the search results page. Let’s make this system the best system for catching out people who use false or stolen ID. We do hear tenants saying they never lived at addresses but it is a bit hard to deny your photo when that is recorded against their record. Lastly – if you are still using only one “company” logon – DON’T! Every person that uses TINZ must have his/her own secure logon so that the Privacy Commissioner doesn’t prosecute the wrong person for any breach of a person’s privacy.... let’s face it when staff go from your business we want to be able to stop them having unauthorised access via your “company” account with us.
